A Reduction In Mattress Recycling Fees!
While Metro Vancouver refused to reduce the price of garbage tipping fees in 2013, it did make an exception for mattresses. Vancouver residents can bring their mattresses to Surrey to have them recycled for the reduced rate of $15. It currently costs $20 to recycle a mattress.
Tipping fees have risen exponentially over the last ten years and there is no indication of it slowing down. They flat out refused a proposal to drop the cost by $2 next year
It’s all a part of the cities dead-serious Zero Waste Proposal. They will fully support recycling and reuse of materials, and keep as much as possible out of landfills.
At Simmons Mattress Gallery we offer what we call the Trade In, Trade Up offer. If you buy a new mattress, we will take your old mattress, and for only the price of recycling it, we will take it off your hands for good, and instead of bringing it to the dump, we will bring it to that recycling depot in Surrey.
How nice is that? Instead of knowing that your old stained bed is going to be taking up space in a landfill for the next ten thousand years, that it is actually being dismantled for the springs and wood and bare materials, which will be used once again to make anything from battleships to wooden horses! Kidding. It is only a good thing that there is a greater push to make use of these materials as opposed to letting them rot with mounds of steaming Huggies and take out containers.
